Leaving on a jetplane

August 28th at 1:55pm Jake flew off to the Argentina MTC.

The night before was a special experience to watch him be set apart as a full time missionary.

He was so excited and ready to go. We got to the airport early to make sure he had plenty of time to catch his flight. After checking in, but before he went through security we were just hanging around chatting, spending a few more moments together. Jake was so antsy, he said, "Can I just go, I want to go". I told him he had plenty of time and would be alone on the other side of security, so he should stay and chat with us. He said, "No offense, I just want to go." So we walked him up to Security and said our goodbyes.

He wanted to put his "pin" in the missionary board we have in our basement.

Loading the car - he weighed his 2 pieces of luggage and 1 carry-on and they weighed about as much as he does!

Do you think they get a lot of missionaries traveling through here?

After check-in the boys pretended Jake just returned home and came to welcome him.

Family photo's just to torture Jake a little longer!

Here are our goodbyes... :(

Jake and Alex saying goodbye - Leave it to Kevin to lighten the mood!

Bye Lauren! (Lauren was wearing this really cute missionary sister shirt in support of Jake)

 Goodbye Dad!

Goodbye McKay!

Goodbye Mom! I got the longest hug because I wouldn't let him go!

Goodbye Jake! Always a joker - Gotta love his goofy face!

Called to Serve

  Called to Serve

It seems like forever ago now but it was so exciting waiting to see where Jake would be called to serve. Here are some photo's of the night he opened is call last Spring.

Friends and family made their guesses on where in the world Jake would go!

The crowd that gathered to watch Jake open his call.

You are assigned to labor in the Paraguay Acuncion North Mission!

Oh, that's where Paraguay is! He's so excited to go and serve.
